Iguanas are found in various
places on the island near the water. They have been spotted
at several of the beaches, their appearance can be a bit
frightening and can range up to a yard long. Iguanas are
usually docile vegetarians, so if you happen to run into one

If St. Maarten is your next vacation destination, then you definitely
have to check out some of these attractions and sites:

Little Bay Beach
Is located on the Dutch side of the island offering white,
powdery, soft sand and stunning views. Little Bay is a great
place for snorkeling the waters are usually calm offering great
underwater visibility. There are several other water activities
available including jet skiing and parasailing.

Maho Beach
This small stretch of white sandy beach draws quite a crowd,
the Maho beach is located at the southern end of the runway at
Princess Juliana International Airport. Giving it's visitors a
thrill seeing and feeling the power as these massive Jumbo jets
approach the runway just a few yards above your head. Maho Beach
faces west of the Caribbean sea offering stunning sunsets.

Mullet Bay
Mullet Bay is one of the prettiest beaches on the
Dutch side. This beautiful beach is wide and flat covered in
white powdery sand and tall beautiful palm trees lining the
coastline. Mullet Bay offers an active surf with slow, rolling
waves making Mullet Bay a popular beach to local surfers. During
weekends Mullet Bay is a popular beach for families coming over
from the French side. Rocks line the shore of Mullet Bay
offering awesome snorkeling spots. There are nearby caves for
you to explore if you are up for a swim.

Long Bay
Is located on the French side and is the longest stretch of
white, sand beach on the island. Long Bay is one of the most
quiet, intimate beaches on the island. There are no watersport
activities or restaurants so you will want to bring your own
supplies. Visitor's can enjoy the privacy and beauty of
the bay, creating the perfect, romantic sunset.

Philipsburg
Is the Capital of the Dutch St. Maarten with two main roads
running through town Front Street and Back Street. Front Street
is the main road lined with several duty free shops offering a
variety of goods. Along Front Street you will see a large, white
wooden structure topped with a cupula this is the courthouse and
a popular landmark built in 1793. Also located on Front Street
is the Simartin Museum offering visitor's some local history.

Grand Case
Located at the northern tip of the island on the French side
is a famous little fishing village known for it's great food and
unusual style of architecture. You will see elaborate wooden
carvings on small houses painted in pastel colors. Some of the
island's best restaurants are located in this area including
local dishes and souvenir shops. During peak season you wont
want to miss the Tuesday night festivities at the Blfd de
Grand-Case.
