Calgary's Olympic Park is located in the foothills of the
mountains to the west of the city. These odd looking towers
of the Olympic ski slopes at Calgary Olympic Park were built
in 1988. This was the primary site for the Olympic Winter
Games. The hill is still open in the winter for skiing and
snowboarding. There is also a bob-sledding and toboggan run
as well. During summer the hill becomes a mountain biking

Heritage Park Historical Village
Located fifteen minutes from downtown Heritage Park is
Canada's largest living historical village. Heritage Park has over 100 buildings
and exhibits spread over 65 acres. The park recreates the feel of pre-1915
prairie life with a train ride drawn by a steam locomotive, cruise around the
Reservoir on the S.S. Moyie paddle wheeler and the antique kid's midway. The
Park features breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains up the Elbow Valley.

Calgary Exhibition and Stampede
Considered one of the greatest outdoor shows on earth the Calgary Stampede
is a must see. During Stampede, corporate Calgary comes to a halt as everyone
prepares for all the fun. The whole town gets dressed as cowboys and cowgirls
dancing in the streets, hosting pancake breakfasts and block parties. Stampede
Park features a half million dollar rodeo, chuck wagon races, casino and lots of
free entertainment along with several displays. The Stampede will attract over
one million visitors from around the world.

The Calgary Zoo and Botanical Gardens
Is Canada's second largest zoo with over 1,000 various reptiles,
birds, amphibians and mammals. The Zoo's indoor and outdoor botanical gardens
offer a variety of cacti, annuals and rainforest plants. Also at the Zoo is a
Prehistoric Park home to over twenty life size models of dinosaurs and
reptiles. There are specialized areas to display wildlife from the Rocky
Mountains and the northern forest.

The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre
Located in Calgary's Chinatown is the Chinese Culture Centre is on of
the largest cultural centers in Canada. The central dome has been
patterned after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing is 60 feet above the floor
decorated with intricate tile work depicting a golden dragon. The museum
and gallery offer visitor's a historical overview of the Chinese culture.

Pengrowth Saddledome
Formerly known as the Canadian Airlines Saddledome, located near the
Stampede Buildings is the Olympic Saddledome one of the most unique ice-arenas
in the world. Built in 1983 this giant hall, is shaped like a saddle which
reflects the spirit of the Wild West. In 1988 the Olympic ice-skating
competitions were held here. The Saddledome holds 20,000 spectators and is home
to the world famous ice-hockey team the Calgary Flames.
