 Anaheim
was founded in 1857, by a group of German families who trekked
across the country and settled next to the Santa Ana River. In fact,
this is how the name Anaheim came to be, "Ana" being the river, and
"heim" German for home, or "The home by the Santa Ana River." The
families were mostly farmers who specialized in growing grapes and
making wine. As the time passed, Anaheim became a town known for
producing industrial items and fruit, and in fact, in 1954, Walt
Disney built Disneyland on what was once orange groves.
